- For pain relief, Mrs. L. is prescribed full dose
TYLENOL*(acetaminophen) at 4 g/day. This will be re-evaluated after two to three
weeks. If Mrs. L has a history of alcohol abuse, liver disease or medications that affect the hepatic metabolism of acetaminophen, consider adjusting her dose accordingly.
- Mrs. L. is referred to a physiotherapist and an
occupational therapist for joint load reduction strategies
(cane, altering work habits) and gentle exercises.
- Weight loss is recommended.
- Mrs. L. is asked to come back in one month
to review her treatment plan. She is also provided
with an information sheet on OA.
