Mrs. L. is limping. She moves carefully and mounts the exam table with some difficulty.

Findings are:

• T: 37°C
  

There is no tenderness on palpation of the right greater trochanter.

The right hip range of motion (ROM) is limited with pain on flexion and internal rotation.

The left hip has a normal ROM and is pain free.

A brief survey of her hands, wrists, knees and feet does not reveal any active joints, only the Heberden's nodes as previously noted.
